There are a lot of reasons that police officers will pull over a driver. There is usually a safety issue involved. There are also tickets for misdemeanor offences. These are given for driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
When a citation is given for a misdemeanor, the consequences are much greater than for an infraction. The person who received the ticket can be given a fine of up to three thousand eight hundred fifty dollars. They can also be required to serve up to one year in city or county jail. They can also have their driver license suspended until they have successfully completed a class.
Different tickets come with different penalties. Usually the offending person will only have to pay a fine. However, they may be required to appear in court. It is important to remember to appear in court and pay any fines by the date stated. That way, no other penalties can be imposed.
